Meet Our Attorneys

Nicholas Matsangos is a New York attorney who focuses his practice on estate planning, elder law, asset protection, and long-term care planning. Nicholas takes pride in helping individuals and families understand their options and develop comprehensive estate plans designed to protect their assets, preserve their wealth, and provide for future generations.

In 2026, Nicholas was named a Long Island Business News 40 Under Forty honoree, recognizing his professional accomplishments, leadership, and commitment to the Long Island community.

Estate Planning & Elder Law Experience

Prior to joining Ettinger Law Firm, Nicholas served as Lead Attorney for the New York office of a national estate planning firm, where he managed the firm’s New York practice and counseled individuals and families on a wide range of estate planning and elder law matters.

Nicholas has extensive experience designing and implementing revocable and irrevocable trusts, Medicaid Asset Protection Trusts, wills, durable powers of attorney, health care proxies, and living wills. His practice also includes estate tax planning, asset protection, long-term care planning, trust funding, and real estate transfers.

Nicholas works closely with clients to understand their assets, family circumstances, and long-term objectives and to develop estate plans tailored to their individual needs. He believes clients should not only have an effective estate plan in place, but should also understand how their plan works and why it was designed for them.

A Look into Nicholas’s Life

Nicholas earned his Juris Doctor from New York Law School, where he received the Dean’s Merit Scholarship. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration, cum laude, from Brooklyn College, with a concentration in Business Law.

Nicholas has longstanding ties to the Greek and Karpathian communities. He serves as a board member of organizations supporting the Karpathian community in both New York and Karpathos, Greece, where he has participated in cultural events, fundraising initiatives, youth athletic programs, and projects supporting the local community.

Outside of the office, Nicholas enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. He is also an avid sports enthusiast and enjoys playing basketball and other sports.
